Author's Bio

Lesley Clinton, a Board Member of Catholic Literary Arts, has won awards from the Poetry Society of Texas and Press Women of Texas. She has been a Juried Poet at the Houston Poetry Fest three times and in 2019 received the Lucille Johnson Clarke Memorial award. Her poetry and prose have appeared or are forthcoming in publications such as America Magazine, The WindhoverMezzo Cammin, Texas Poetry Calendar, Ever Eden, Ekstasis Magazine, Radiant Magazine, Sakura Review, Literary Mama, Euphony Journal, Gulf Stream Magazine, and By the Light of a Neon Moon. Her chapbook of poems, Calling the Garden from the Grave, is now available for pre-order from Finishing Line Press (https://www.finishinglinepress.com/produ...). Press Women of Texas 2020 Communications Awards: "New Year Red," 3rd place.

The Lucille Johnson Clark Memorial Award, awarded annually to the Houston Poetry Fest's highest-rated K-12 classroom teacher. The award is sponsored by Robert Clark, in loving memory of his mother, who taught in a one-room school house. 

Alamo Family Award from Poets Northwest, a chapter of the Poetry Society of Texas, "Daughter," 1st place.

Squirrel in a Cactus Garden Award from Poets Northwest, a chapter of Poetry Society of Texas, "Poetry Lesson," 2nd place.

Smallest Leaf Award from Poetry Society of Texas annual contest, "Cabeza de Vaca Weathers the Gulf," 2nd place.
