The program offers partial funding. The program offers teaching assistantships, graduate assistantships in the Writing Center and with the magazines Arkana and Oxford American, and internships.

Travel to conferences such as AWP is also paid for by the program.

The program, which has an emphasis on professional development, also offers coursework in publishing, creative writing pedagogy, drama, and screenwriting. The program hosts an artist-in-residence series and the C. D. Wright Women Writers Conference, which students attend for free. Program applicants are not required to take the GRE.
