Pegasus Bookstore: Downtown

A seller of used and new books, Pegasus began regularly hosting events in 2008 and to this day, the creative energies of staffers have shaped a unique event program that runs throughout the year. Pegasus has three locations: two in Berkeley and one in Oakland.

Mrs. Dalloway’s Bookstore

Mrs. Dalloway’s hosts over 150 stellar in-store author events each year, serving as a dynamic cultural center and resource for its neighborhood, its ever-expanding and devoted customer base, and as an outreach to the San Francisco Bay Area literary community. Mrs. Dalloway’s outgoing and talented booksellers are passionate about reading, love to share their eclectic tastes with illuminating staff picks, and are most happy when engaged in book talk. 

Third Place Books: Ravenna

Founded in the Ravenna neighborhood of Seattle in 2002, Third Place Books is a general interest bookstore with over forty thousand books.

The Ravenna location has Vios Cafe, a full-service sit-down Greek restaurant located at the back of the bookstore. Third Place Pub is located below Vios Café and the bookstore. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the bookstore, café, and pub. The bookstore hosts readings, discussions, signings, and other literary events throughout the year.

Book Culture on Broadway

With the strong support of the Morningside Heights community and the faculty and administration of Columbia University, Book Culture is a true community bookstore. Founded in 1997, the store features new and classic fiction and nonfiction, cookbooks, mystery novels, graphic novels, home and craft books, and travel guides. The bookstore has four locations, including two in Manhattan, one in Long Island City, and one in Pittsford, New York. This location has a Children’s Reading Room downstairs, which is filled with books, toys, games, puzzles, art supplies, and plush toys.

Porter Square Books

Founded in 2004, Porter Square Books is a general new bookstore featuring contemporary and classic literature for both kids and adults, as well as greeting cards, magazines, and unique gifts. The store hosts many events by national and local authors, sells books for other organizations in the community, and organizes book fairs and author appearances in local schools.

Collected Works Bookstore and Coffeehouse

Collected Works is an independent and locally-owned business, located on the corner of Galisteo & Water Streets in downtown Santa Fe, just blocks from the historic Plaza. It is a full-service general bookstore with a huge inventory of titles, including a large selection of local travel, Southwest and Native American history, art and architecture, poetry, and children’s books. 

Third Place Books: Lake Forest Park

Third Place Books hosts over one thousand free public events every year. The bookstore has a large public commons, five restaurants, free wireless internet, a community room, and a stage.

Events and the public area within Third Place Books are managed by a community organization, Friends of Third Place Commons, and supported by Third Place Books, the City of Lake Forest Park, and the merchants and management of the Town Center at Lake Forest Park.

Charis Books and More

Charis Books and More is an independent feminist bookstore in Atlanta, Georgia. They specialize in diverse and unique children's books, feminist and cultural studies books, and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer fiction and nonfiction. They host frequent readings, community events and meetings, classes and workshops, presentations and panels, and literary events throughout the year.

The Cliterati Open No-Mic open mic & reading series is on the third Thursday of every month.

Shelf Life Books

Established in 2002, Shelf Life Books, formerly known as Chop Suey Books, offers the Richmond community two floors of new and gently used literature, art, photography, architecture, design, philosophy, poetry, theater, and film. The shop hosts various author events, including readings, with a healthy calendar of events throughout the year.

R. J. Julia Booksellers

Since 1990, R. J. Julia Booksellers has hosted high-caliber author events, hosting more than three hundred events each year. The shop supports local and independent authors and takes pride in their success.
