Editorial Focus

Split Lip Magazine is out to unionize literature with pop culture. We publish mainstream literary prose & verse, music, fine art and film.

Tips From the Editor

We do not follow a strict philosophy; we just want good writing that has some bite/edge/torque. Fiction: characters trump setting & place, and trouble is necessary. Memoir: Please deliver a story arc instead of simply reflecting, and please make sure you want it published before submitting if it's about dark family secrets or matters that might ruin your reputation. Poetry: Narrative is highly favored. Free verse, concrete imagery and limited abstraction please. Bottom line: if you have a piece you feel belongs in a pop culture magazine called Split Lip, please submit.
