Author's Bio

Stephani E. D. McDow is a native of Washington, DC and graduate of Duke Ellington School of the Arts where she majored in Literary and Media Arts. She began writing during her primary years and became a published poet and author at the age of sixteen. Following the completion of her bachelor’s degree in Humanities and English, Stephani continued to pursue her passion for writing as a contributing author with an online publication and freelance writer and editor while working to develop her career in the nonprofit sector.

Her work has been praised by award-winning editor, writer and journalist, Susan L. Taylor; award-winning author and editor, Charlene Giannetti; and former actress Phoebe Cates for an article Stephani wrote for Woman Around Town on her husband, actor Kevin Kline.

Currently a student in the Masters of Arts in English program at Bowie State University, Stephani has had poems, short stories and nonfiction pieces published internationally in literary journals, online publications and anthologies such as armarolla, Woman Around Town, The RECORD, Edify Fiction, “Femme Literati: Mixtape Anthology” by Genre: Urban Arts, Still Points Art Quarterly and “Take a Stand: Art Against Hate Anthology” by Raven Chronicles Press.
