Author's Bio

Samantha Pious is a poet, translator, editor, and medievalist. In addition to the books listed here, her verse translation of Christine de Pizan's One Hundred Ballades of a Lover and His Lady is forthcoming. Her translations-in-progress include: One Hundred Ballades, also by Christine de Pizan; Sapphic Rhythms, a new selection of poems by Renée Vivien; and poems by Marie Krysinska and Alfonsina Storni. She holds a PhD in comparative literature from the University of Pennsylvania. By translating women poets of the past, she hopes to contribute to a canon—or canons—of our own.
