Author's Bio

Rich Murphy is the author of six full-length poetry collections, including Practitioner Joy (2020); Body Politic (2016); Americana (2013), winner of the Prize Americana;  Voyeur (2008), winner of the Gival Press Poetry Award; and The Apple in the Monkey Tree (2007). His chapbooks include Great Grandfather (Pudding House Press), Family Secret (Finishing Line Press), Hunting and Pecking (Ahadada Books), Phoems for Mobile Vices (BlazeVox), and Paideia (Aldrich Press). His poems have been published widely in poetry journals in the US and abroad, including Poetry magazine, Grand Street, Rolling Stone, Trespass, New LettersPank, Segue, EOAGH, and Big Bridge.
 
Murphy’s critical essays have been published in The International Journal of the HumanitiesJournal of Ecocriticism, Imaginary Syllabus, and Reconfigurations: A Journal for Poetics Poetry/Literature and Culture, among others. Some of these essays on poetics and poetry were collected in Prophetic Voice Now (2020). He has taught at several colleges and universities where he has directed writing programs and has taught creative and academic writing and literature. Most recently, he is guest lecturer at Massachusetts College of Art and Design and lives in Marblehead, Massachusetts.
