Riayn Spaero

Poet

Author's Bio

Riayn Spaero is a writer and performance artist. Her work appears or is forthcoming in CALYX Journal, Artemis Journal, Rogue Agent, New Feathers Anthology, Trampoline, Autofocus, LIGEIA, the Under Review, Major 7th, The Believer, and Longreads. She’s had the privilege of reading her work at the Elizabeth Street Garden & McNally Jackson Summer Poetry Reading Series, as well as the Frank Conroy Reading Room at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, where she attended their graduate summer intensive. Her poetry unifies the corporeal with the supernatural, contemporary constructs with cultural roots, and Catholicism with healing arts of the Gulf Coast; the results of which have been described as "visceral and multilayered." Spaero is embracing the languages of her father’s heritage, while reconnecting with the words and rituals of her maternal grandmother.
