Author's Bio

Peter Marra’s writings explore alienation, addiction, love, secrets, obsessions and the pain of victimization. He has been manipulated by trash culture and fine art. He is the child of the films of Roger Corman and Russ Meyer, the works of the Symbolists and the NYC underground. Originally from Gravesend Brooklyn, Peter lived in the East Village, New York from 1979 to 1993 at the height of the punk – no wave era. His work has the ability to unnerve but always has a purpose.

His published works include approximate lovers (downtown materialaktion) (Bone Orchard Press)Peep-O-Rama: Sins of the Go-Go Girls (Hammer & Anvil Books),Vanished Faces (a performance of occult infections)  (Writing Knights Press), Random Crucifixions: Obsessions, Dolls and Maniac Cameras (Hammer & Anvil Books), a surrealist neo-giallo novel, A Naked Kiss from a Broken Doll.

Peter’s work often deals with the forgotten hidden civilization usually found in urban areas – people we rarely notice – junkies, the unhoused, sex workers, etc.  The hidden ones.

His newest poetry collection A Dirty Diary of Ordinary Days recounting his time spent haunting Times Square and the East Village of NYC circa 1977-1983 associating with characters of questionable morals was published by INCUNABULA MEDIA in January 2025.
