Author's Bio

Peter B. Hyland holds a BFA in drawing and painting from the University of North Texas and an MFA in poetry from the University of Houston Creative Writing Program. He is Program Director for the Jo Ann (Jody) & Dr. Charles O. Onstead Institute for Education in the Visual Arts & Design at the University of North Texas.

Along with scholar and collaborator Tyson E. Lewis, Hyland co-founded the Education as Experimentation (EE) project, which is centered on philosophy of education specific to creative practices. EE publications include Studious Drift: Movements and Protocols for a Postdigital Education (University of Minesotta Press, 2022) and the forthcoming The Alchemy of Research-Creation: On Pataphysical Experimentation, Dark Infrastructures, and Antifascist Studio Practices (SUNY Press, 2026), as well as related articles and book chapters. EE also includes a biennial symposium that enacts the project's concepts.
