M.K. Foster is a poet and Renaissance literature scholar from Birmingham, Alabama. Her poetry has appeared or is forthcoming in The Columbia Review; Boston Review; Crazyhorse; Gulf Coast; Rattle; The Adroit Journal; The Offing; JuxtaProse; Fourteen Hills; Sixth Finch; B O D Y; The Account; Word Riot; H.O.W. Journal; Ninth Letter; Read America(s), a poetry anthology from Locked Horn Press; and elsewhere. Foster holds a B.A. from Birmingham-Southern College and an M.F.A. from the University of Maryland and currently pursues a Ph.D. in the Hudson Strode Program in Renaissance Studies at the University of Alabama, where her interests include wonder, ecocriticism, horror, and the body.

Her poetry has been recognized with a Gulf Coast Poetry Prize (selected by Stanley Plumly), an Academy of American Poets Prize (selected by Sally Keith), two Pushcart Prize nominations (2015), a Best of the Net nomination (2016), and most recently, inclusion in Best New Poets 2017 (selected by Natalie Diaz).
