Kristina Garvin is a writer and public health researcher based in Philadelphia. Her stories, poems, and essays have appeared in North American Review, Pithead Chapel, Salamander, Eclectica Magazine, Sky Island Journal, The Palisades Review, PopMatters, 34th Parallel, America Magazine, and elsewhere. An excerpt from her novel-in-progress, The Disaster Society, was a prize-winner in Novel Slice’s 2022 competition.
Kristina earned a Ph.D. in early American literature from the Ohio State University and has published scholarship on both the Early National Period and 9/11 film and literature. She has taught at a number of universities, including Saint Joseph’s University and the University of Connecticut.
Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Kristina has also lived in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Connecticut. Currently she works in the public health sector and has a background in fundraising for nonprofits.
