Author's Bio

Jennifer Dotson is the founder and program coordinator for www.highlandparkpoetry.org (begun in 2007). Her poetry has appeared in After Hours, DuPage Valley Review, East on Central, Exact Change Only, Poetry CRAM/Journal of Modern Poetry, Pacific Poetry Review, Panolpyzine and Willow Review.  Her poems are included in several anthologies including A Midnight Snack from Poetic License Press and Raising Lilly Ledbetter: Women Poets Occupy the Workplace (University of Washington Press).  Clever Gretel, her debut collection, received the first Journal of Modern Poetry Book Award and was published by Chicago Poetry Press in 2013. Late Night Talk Show Fantasy & Other Poems, her second collection, is scheduled for publication by Kelsay Books in 2020. She teaches poetry and memoir for Highland Park's Library U program.

Prizes won: 

2018 Mayor's Award for the Arts - awarded to Highland Park Poetry in recognition of its contributions and bringing poetry to the community.

2017 Above & Beyond (National Federation of State Poetry Societies) - given in recognition of the individual's willingness to help, lead, and inspire our youth poets. I was nominated by Illinois State Poetry Society President Susan T. Moss for my work on Highland Park Poetry's annual Poetry Challenge which encourages and recognizes student poets.
