Author's Bio

Devin Porter is a playwright, poet, fiction writer, and screenwriter. He has collaborated with esteemed institutions and companies including Columbia University, Negro Ensemble Company, Fade To Black Festival, Alter Theater, Forward Theater Company, Barrow Group Theatre Company, Fantasy Theatre Factory, The Playground Experiment, Caesar Ford Theatre, The School of Thinking Making, African American Shakespeare Company, Through the Looking Glass Art Gallery, and the Columbus Black Theatre Festival.

His publications have appeared in journals and anthologies such as The Miami Times, Fjords Review, Conium Review, High Plains Register, Nzuri Journal of Umoja Community at Coastline College, Crack The Spine, RavensPerch, and the PGE Faces of America Anthology. He was also a featured poet for El Paso’s acclaimed Barbed Wire Open Mic Series.

In addition to his writing, Devin has contributed to the performing arts in multiple capacities. He served as stage manager for Blue Marigold with K.B. Theatre Company, and his short film La Unión received an Honorable Mention for Outstanding Achievement at the El Paso 48 Hour Film Festival. He also served as a panelist for the NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship, a role that underscores his growing influence in contemporary storytelling.

Devin holds a B.A. in English from the University at Albany, where he was a three-time Spellman Academic Award Winner, and an M.A. in Theatre from Ohio University. He is a member of Howl Playwrights based in Rhinebeck, NY, and a proud member of the Dramatists Guild.
