Author's Bio

I teach microfiction at Washington University where I am also the director of the MFA Program. I’m currently revising a collection of short stories entitled “Breeding Pair” while drafting a novel called “The Farmers Market.” I live with my wife and daughter in St. Louis, Missouri.

Prizes won: 

My story, "Stay" was a Pushcart Prize winner and was also selected as a distinguished story by Best American Short Stories. I've been awarded residencies at Blue Mountain Center and Grin City Collective. In 2010 I received a St. Louis Mastermind Award from the Riverfront Times.
