Andy Kantar

Andy Kantar is the author of a trilogy of shipwreck books published by Michigan State University Press. They tell the stories of the three largest ships to be lost on the three largest Great Lakes: BLACK NOVEMBER (2006), a finalist for the ForeWord Book of the Year (YA nonfiction) and was a major source for an Emmy-winning documentary; DEADLY VOYAGE (2009), selected for One Book, One County Reads (sponsored by the Michigan Humanities Council); and 29 MISSING (1998), designated a Michigan Notable Book for young adults (1999). His novel, GAME FACE, received the Bronze Medal at the Moonbeam Children's Book Awards (2013). He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota and was an English professor at Ferris State University for more than 30 years, including 8 years as director of their Writing Center. He also served two years as a Fulbright Scholar to Norway. Andy and his wife, Fran, have three children and live in Minneapolis.
