The following index offers key information on all forty venues featured in our guides to indie markets. While we’ve recommended notable outlets by genre, keep in mind that most of these venues publish a variety of poetry and prose. If the energy of a press or journal speaks to you, check its website for the scoop on all genres of work the outlet accepts. Also visit our comprehensive, vetted Literary Magazines and Small Presses databases for more information on many of these and other indie magazines and publishers, including upcoming submission windows, pay rates, and full genre details. Finally, remember that the best way to get to know a literary magazine is to read it for yourself. Pick up a copy at a bookstore or library. Scan its table of contents. See who’s on the masthead. Perhaps read a piece by a writer whose name you recognize, and one whose name you don’t. And when you find a journal you love, show your support by subscribing.
