Winchester Book Gallery

The Winchester Book Gallery is an independent, locally owned bookstore serving the northern Shenandoah Valley of Virginia since 1972. They sell new books, local art, cards, and puzzles, and regularly host book readings and signings, game nights, live music, and other literary events and local celebrations.

Museum of Fine Arts, Houston

Located in the heart of Houston’s Museum District, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston is a dynamic cultural complex comprising two gallery buildings, a sculpture garden, visitors center, library, movie theater, gift shop, café, two art schools, and two house museums. They regularly host lectures, performances, workshops, talks, concerts, and readings throughout the year.

Bookends & Beginnings

Located in the heart of downtown Evanston, Illinois, Bookends & Beginnings opened in June 2014 in the space formerly occupied by legendary antiquarian store Bookman’s Alley. They offer new, used, and bargain books, unique gift items, and literary events.

Open Books: West Loop

Open Books at the Literacenter features more than fifty thousand books in dozens of genres, a dedicated youth section, comfy lounges, and more, all to support their literacy programs in Chicago. With a full calendar of literary events, Open Books hosts poetry readings, talks, and book signings.

Murder By the Book

One of the nation’s oldest and largest mystery specialty bookstores, Murder By the Book carries over twenty-five thousand books: new and used, hardcovers and paperbacks, first editions, collectibles, gift items, mystery magazines, and more. The shop regularly hosts hundreds of mystery, crime, and fantasy book signing events throughout the year.

StoryStudio Chicago

StoryStudio Chicago is a growing community of writers building Chicagoland’s premier center for writing and writers. Its mission is simple: teach the art and craft of writing in a positive, open, and encouraging community where students can develop their unique voices.

Reed College’s Creative Writing Department

The Visiting Writer Series at Reed College is sponsored by the Department of English. The intent is to bring interesting and diverse writers of prose and poetry to Reed to do readings and discussions. The department maintains a mailing list to which interested people can subscribe, to receive details of the upcoming readings.

The Visiting Writers Series takes place in the Eliot Chapel. The readings begin at 6:30 PM. Books are sold and refreshments are served.
