Poets & Writers
50th Anniversary Gala
March 16, 2020

Each year, Poets & Writers gathers people from every aspect of the book business—authors, editors, agents, publishers, designers, printers, paper companies, booksellers, and more—to celebrate the enormous contributions that writers make to our culture. The annual dinner is attended by luminaries in the arts, publishing, and media. It is the organization’s most important annual fundraising event, making our programs and resources for creative writers possible.

Our 50th Anniversary Gala will be held on Monday, March 16, 2020, at Pier Sixty in New York City. The Benefit Chair is Michael Pietsch, chief executive officer of Hachette Book Group.

At our 50th Anniversary Gala, a special Leadership Award will be presented to Oprah Winfrey. The Barnes & Noble Writers for Writers Awards, which annually honor writers who have given generously to other writers or to the broader literary community, will be presented to Michael Chabon and Amanda Gorman.
