A prize of £10,000 (approximately $13,323) is given annually for a previously published short story by a writer of African descent. Shortlisted writers will receive £500 (approximately $666). Writers who are nationals of an African country or who have a parent who is African by birth or nationality are eligible. Using only the online submission system, publishers may submit a story between 3,000 and 10,000 words published in the five years preceding the submission deadline of February 27.
