RevitalWriters2: Supportive Critique

Welcome to the first spinoff of the original RevitalWriters: Critique. Done. Write.

The Guidelines

  1.  RevitalWriters2: SC, meets every other Monday evening, from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm, EST/EDT.
  2.          The dates for the rest of 2021 are: 10/18 | 11/1 | 11/15 | 11/29 | 12/13 | 12/27
  3. Our guidelines follow Doug Lipman's The Storytelling Coach:
  4.          The author shares their work for approximately eight minutes (circles around 1,200 to 1,400 words).
  5.  Feedback is then given for approximately another eight minutes. It consists of:
  6.          Appreciations.
  7.          Suggestions, if the author wants any.
  8.                                     All suggestions should be couched to help the author hone their craft.
  9.                                    "Have you thought about...?" or "Consider [adding/deleting/expanding]..."
  10.          Question(s) from the author that they are pondering.
  11. The author, deeply listening to the Appreciations & Suggestions, should only say two words: Thank you.
  12.                                 No dithering. No drawn-out explanations. Short and sweet: Thank you.
  13. All clarifying questions should be left in the chat function or in a private message.
  14. This is a Time Management tool. Everyone should get their chance to share and receive helpful feedback.
  • We have zero-tolerance for abusive language, interrupting/dismissal/belittling of another member, and any other inappropriate behavior. Depending on the severity the consequences range from being asked to leave the room for that session up to parting ways.
  •                        Any conversation along these topics will not be held in that evening's session.
  • The Author is the Author. Period. If the author asks for suggestions, it is just that: a suggestion.
  •                        The author should write them down, look them over at a later time, and use or discard any suggestion offered at their discretion.
  • We are looking for everyone to commit to the schedule and not show up intermittently.
  • Being on time is a must. We will start AT 7:00. Please arrive no later than five minutes before the hour.

Once the room limit is met but you are still interested in joining, send a private message to Stuart Nager that you wish to join our waitlist.

Thanks for your time and patience. I want to be as transparent as the Invisible Man, just not as murderous.
