Editorial Focus
Works of fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry. The press publishes the winners of the Iowa Short Fiction Award and the Iowa Poetry Prize, novels, biographies, memoirs, books on the literature, history, culture, wildlife, and natural areas of the Midwest, and collections of historic and contemporary photographs. For scholars and students, we publish reference and course books in the areas of American studies, American history, literary studies, and theatre studies.
Tips From the Editor
We prefer all proposals and manuscript materials to be double-spaced and in Word or PDF format. Please email your material to the appropriate acquisitions or series editor. Our typical response time for a preliminary inquiry is about five to six weeks.
Please note that the Iowa Poetry Prize, the Iowa Short Fiction Award, and the John Simmons Short Fiction Award have their own submission procedures.
