Editorial Focus

Four Chambers Press is an independent community literary magazine and small press based in Phoenix, AZ whose mission is to give greater visibility to the literary arts, encourage their larger participation in the cultural scene, and help develop a more active community of writers and readers. We're interested in contemporary literature, which we take to mean work from emerging authors doing relatively interesting things. We take writing seriously but we're not very formal. Also, we're a heart. We love literature. We love you.

Tips From the Editor

While we're a diverse staff of volunteer editors with particular backgrounds and tastes--some of us have MFA's and PhD's; some of us work in academic or non-profit arts and culture organizations; some of us are stay at home mothers; some of us are unemployed--we are all very much engaged with local, national, and international literary scenes, and we all share a deep and abiding love for contemporary literature. We are also very critical. All of which is to say: get out to writing groups; get feedback; keep reading; make sure any weird line breaks or spacings are really necessary and read as intentional; go beyond a limited third-person voice; write important work; etc etc. Do you.
