The 2026 annual Chuckanut Writers Conference, cohosted by Village Books and Paper Dreams, Sidekick Press, and Chanticleer Book Reviews, will be held from June 25 to June 27 at Sehome High School in Bellingham, Washington. The conference features workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as keynote addresses, craft talks, author panels, an open mic, a faculty reading, and breakout sessions that combine lecture, discussion, and generative writing sessions. The faculty includes poets Kelli Russell Agodon, Anastacia-Reneé, Sati Mookherjee, and Derek Sheffield; fiction writers Sarah Hawley, Glen Hirshberg, Sonora Jha, Scott Lambridis, Peter Mountford, A. Muia, and Lucy Tan; and nonfiction writers Sasha taqwšəblu LaPointe, Brenda Miller, and Brendan O’Meara. Participating publishing professionals include editor Elise McHugh (University of New Mexico Press) and literary agents Donald Maass (Donald Maass Literary Agency), Laura Mazer (Wendy Sherman Associates, Inc.), and Katie Reed (Katie Reed Literary). The cost of the conference is $445 ($149 for students) and includes admission to the opening and closing keynote addresses, plenary sessions, breakout sessions, the open mic, the faculty reading, and signing events.
