American Literary Translators Association Conference

The 49th annual American Literary Translators Association Conference will be held from October 21 to October 24 at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront Hotel in Portland, Oregon. Programming includes panels, workshops, bilingual readings, a bookfair, a gathering of the BIPOC Literary Translators Caucus, and opportunities to connect with editors and translators. The conference will also feature special events including an awards ceremony and translation trivia night. The 2026 theme is “Give and Take.” Poet and translator Jadine ‘JD’ Pluecker will deliver the keynote address. The cost of the conference was $360 for non-ALTA members and $260 for ALTA members for registration by September 9; $385 and $285, respectively, for registration by October 7; and $435 and $335, respectively, for on-site registration. One-day passes are available for $185 by October 7 and $210 on-site. Registration for students costs $110 by October 7 and $135 on-site. Some events are free and open to the public.
