This program hosts the Virginia G. Piper Distinguished Visiting Writers Series and the annual Desert Nights, Rising Stars conference. Additionally, the Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing offers students a variety of creative and global fellowship opportunities each year, including teaching fellowships in Singapore; global residency fellowships to study and write abroad; one to two fellowships to provide summer funding for writing; and other generous forms of support that include graduate assistantships and travel scholarships. Other features include the MFA Reading Series, opportunities to work with Four Way Books, and to participate in community outreach activities such as teaching creative writing in prison.
