The program offers coursework in picture book, middle grade, young adult, graphic literature, nonfiction, fiction, and poetry for young people.

Students attend two 10-day residencies each year, in January and July, on the VCFA campus in Montpelier, Vermont. The program offers an optional summer residency abroad in Oxford, England, dual-program options, and postgraduate semesters.  

The application deadline is March 15 for Summer/Fall semester applicants; October 15 for Winter/Spring semester applicants.
