This program is fully funded and offers eight teaching assistantships annually. They are typically awarded to three fiction writers, three poets, and two creative nonfiction writers. Each TAship includes a stipend of approximately $17,000 full tuition remission, and student health insurance.
Admitted MFA students are additionally eligible to apply for University-wide fellowships offered through the Graduate School.
The program hosts a writer in residence, and in addition to a visiting writers series, the program also offers summer reading stipends and opportunities for summer writing residencies at cabins in Tennessee and Virginia, exclusively available to current and graduated students.
