The program offers partial funding through fellowships and scholarships.

The Writers-Helping Writing need-based scholarships offer a $1,250 tuition discount per semester ($5,000 total). The Kurt Brown Fellowship for Diverse Voices offers $1,500 tuition discount applied to first semester; the Frances L. Toner Fellowship for Veterans provides a $1,500 tuition waiver toward either the recipient’s first-semester tuition or room and board fees for the first year in the Solstice MFA Program; the Monica Hand Fellowship for Nontraditional Students offers a $1,500 tuition discount applied to first semester for applicants forty years of age or older; the Dubus Fellowship for Diverse Voices offers a $1,500 tuition discount applied to first semester for an eligible an incoming student of diverse background or experience who also demonstrates financial need; the Billy Still Fellowship for Social Action & Writing offers a $1,500 tuition discount applied to first semester for applicants who enter our Social Action & Writing Track during the summer residency/fall semester; and Genre-Based Fellowships ($1,500 each tuition discount applied to first semester) include the Dennis Lehane Fellowship for Fiction, the Michael Steinberg Fellowship for Creative Nonfiction, the Doug and Betsy Sholl Fellowship for Poetry, and the Carrie Watson Legacy Fellowship for Young People’s Literature.

The program includes concentrations in Writing for Young People and Comics & Graphic Narratives, as well as optional tracks in Pedagogy and Social Action & Writing.

For the winter residency, the application deadline to be considered for a fellowship is the second Monday in October and the deadline for general applications is the last Monday in October. For the summer residency, the application deadline to be considered for a fellowship is second Monday in April and the deadline for general applications is the last Monday in April.
