Editorial Focus

Southword is an international literary journal featuring poetry, literary fiction, essays, and interviews. The Spring issue consists of work drawn from our writing competitions and specially commissioned work. The Autumn issue consists of work chosen from unsolicited submissions as well as commissioned pieces.

Tips From the Editor

In a submission period, we like to see no more than two stories or six poems. There is an upper limit of 5,000 words for short stories and a suggested limit of forty lines per poem. Once you have submitted your work, you can check the status of your submission by signing into your Submittable account.
