Editorial Focus

The Phantom Billstickers Cafe Reader is a quarterly literary zine featuring short stories, poems, art and editorial by both New Zealanders and international authors. The stories we publish are heartfelt glimpses into family, community, and the more colourful aspects of the creative life. Our contributors are a collection of globally recognized authors and emerging artists who deserve to be heard. 2017 will be our 5th year publishing the Café Reader. 2,000 copies are distributed in the USA through 50 independent bookstores. 10,000 free copies are distributed in New Zealand.

Tips From the Editor

Although we do publish some poetry in each issue, the Café Reader is not a ‘poetry’ publication. Short fiction is more likely to be accepted. Emerging voices are as likely to be published as established authors. We value diversity. We admire content that is thought provoking, heartfelt, humorous and that challenges the norm.
