Editorial Focus

Gyroscope Review publishes fine contemporary poetry in a variety of forms and themes. We welcome both new and established writers. Co-editors: Constance Brewer and Kathleen Cassen Mickelson.

Tips From the Editor

Smart, snappy lines and delightful twists get our attention. We like well-shaped contemporary verse with deft use of white space, unusual metaphors, fine attention to detail. Most subjects are fair game; will consider sci-fi and horror. We tend to dislike rhyming, overt sentiment, break-up poetry, pieces more suited to live performance, political rants, pornography, and derogatory work. Push the envelope, but be tasteful about it. Do not submit if you are not open to the occasional edit.
