Editorial Focus
Abandoned Mine is foremost a journal for people who don’t yet know they like poetry.
Many people today are of the belief that they don’t “get” poetry, regarding a poem with almost the same trepidation they might regard, say, a complicated physics equation.
Fortunately, the poems that appear in Abandoned Mine are accessible, understandable, and relatable—which, hopefully, will help people reframe their relationship to poetry, thereby enriching their lives!
Tips From the Editor
Abandoned Mine is looking for:
- Poems that are accessible and understandable
- Poems people will want to re-read
- Poems people will want to share with family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers
- Poems people will remember for the rest of their lives
We do not publish translations or ekphrastic poems.
