Workshop

“Writing in Response to Art,” a teach-in focusing on Ekphrastic writing, presented by Karen Shoemaker, Executive Director of Larksong Writers Place. Participants will spend time looking closely at selected artworks, reflecting on what they see, what it means to them, and how those impressions can spark a poem, story, or brief memoir. Guided exercises will introduce the practice of writing in response to visual art, helping attendees move from careful observation to expressive language. Designed for writers of all levels, the teach-in will be presented in two parts at the Sheldon Museum of Art on two consecutive Saturdays: April 18, 2026 and April 25, 2026, from 2:00-4:00pm, at 451 N. 12th Street, Lincoln, NE 68588.

There is no charge for this teach-in, but space is limited. Please register on Sheldon Museum’s website. Parking information is available at this link.
