The Traveling SFF Festival lands in Norwich! Join us for a sci/fi and fantasy panel with authors Elaine Cho, J.R. Dawson, Emily Jane, Yume Kitasei, and Mia Tsai! Moderated by Amanda Petersen.

Authors Elaine Cho, J.R. Dawson, Emily Jane, Yume Kitasei, and Mia Tsai will be discussion ESCAPISM OR TRUTH-TELLING? What’s the point of speculative fiction, and why do we write it? What can it tell us about the present and future? The individual or society? What stories are you interested in exploring as an author?

Elaine U. Cho is the author of OCEAN'S GODORI and TEO'S DURUMI. She has an MFA in Flute Performance and is a kyūdō practitioner.

J.R. Dawson (she/they) is the Golden Crown award-winning writer of THE FIRST BRIGHT THING, THE LIGHTHOUSE AT THE EDGE OF THE WORLD, and various short stories. You can find them at www.jrdawsonwriter.com

Emily Jane is the USA Today bestselling author of the fun genre-bending novels ON EARTH AS IT IS ON TELEVISION and HERE BESIDE THE RISING TIDE. She lives on an urban farm in Cincinnati with her husband and their two kids.

Yume Kitasei is a Japanese and American speculative fiction author of THE DEEP SKY, THE STARDUST GRAIL, and SALTCROP. She lives in Brooklyn with two cats, Boondoggle and Filibuster.

Mia Tsai is a Taiwanese American author of BITTER MEDICINE, a xianxia-inspired contemporary fantasy, and the forthcoming THE MEMORY HUNTERS. She is also an editor at Giganotosaurus, a 2024 Hugo Award finalist for Best Semiprozine, and the creator of ConCurrent, a SFF convention.

The moderator for this event is Amanda Petersen! Amanda Petersen is an avid reader and amateur booktoker. They read mostly genre fiction and are fascinated by the intersection of fiction, learning, and pleasure. They live in Vermont, with their spouse, beagle, two cats, and 7 chickens.
