Happy Halloween! You are invited to join us for our October event on Zoom on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at 2 pm ET with Susan Michele Coronel, Josephine LoRe, and Charles S. Cobean

Plus a limited open mic. Your $5 contribution keeps our annual anthology in print. Hosted by Patricia Carragon, our Brooklyn girl and Editor-in-Chief.

Please follow the directions below, completing both steps at least two days before the reading to avoid delays entering the meeting room. Note the order of the open mic follows the order of signup. Sign up early to read early in the program. Last-minute signup means you will read at the end of the program. The cutoff for Zoom access for an open mic slot is noon the day of reading. After noon, late registrants are not guaranteed Zoom access to join the open but will receive a link to watch the reading live-streamed on YouTube.

Josephine LoRe is an award-winning poet and photographer based in Calgary, Alberta. A graduate of the University of Toronto and l’Université de Rouen, her early collection won the prestigious Norma Epstein Award. Her writing—deeply rooted in nature, family, and her Sicilian heritage—has been published in fifteen countries and five languages. Integrating imagery, lyricism, and verse, LoRe has written four acclaimed collections: Unity, the bestsellers The Cowichan Series, In My Father’s House, and her first full-length manuscript, The Moon and All Her Faces. She actively participates in a number of online and live reading series and has toured her poetry in Canada, the US, and Europe. Thrice nominated for the Pushcart Poetry Prize, Josephine has been appointed Poet Laureate of Calgary’s Bow Valley Historical Ranche Society. Her latest endeavor, Late to the Sky, is a collaborative volume of poetry co-authored with Charles S. Cobean.

Charles S. Cobean is an award-winning poet and the son of a Cold War submarine captain. He holds a BA from Vanderbilt University and an MFA from UCLA. After pausing his early literary pursuits to raise a family and establish a career, he returned to poetry later in life. Cobean’s work has earned him the Merrill Moore Award, the Hollins Literary Festival Prize, and the Jim Wayne MIller Prize, among others. His poems appear in prominent journals like Rattle, MORIA, Poets Online, Western Humanities Review, and Poem. His chapbook, Lately, was published this past March, and he’s here tonight to read from his new collaborative work, Late to the Sky, co-authored with Josephine LoRe.
