Acclaimed poet Phillis Levin will read from her new book, An Anthology of Rain (Barrow Street Press, April 2025).
Levin is a singular poet whose fifth collection, Mr. Memory & Other Poems (Penguin Books, 2016), was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize and received a coveted starred review from Library Journal, which also named the book one of its Top Picks of the Year in Poetry.
Levin’s poems have appeared in many well-known publications such as The Atlantic, Kenyon Review, The New Yorker, Paris Review, Plume, Raritan, and The Yale Review.
A Guggenheim Fellow, Levin’s other honors include the Poetry Society of America’s Norma Farber First Book Award, a Fulbright Scholar Award, and a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship.
Born and raised in Paterson, New Jersey, Levin taught creative writing at The University of Maryland, NYU, and the 92nd Street Y. She is now Poet-in-Residence and Professor of English emerita at Hofstra. She lives on the Upper West Side.
