Are you Generation Re? What makes Café Tacvba’s Re one of the most groundbreaking and enduring albums in Latin American music? From its eclectic musical palette to its unforgettable lyrics, Re shattered conventions and redefined what Latin music could sound like.
Join author Carmelo Esterrich, DJ/promoter/writer Gabriel Feijóo, and journalist Mayra Mangal for an engaging conversation about Bloomsbury’s book Re, which explores the revolutionary album that became a Latin American classic.
The book Re is part of Bloomsbury’s acclaimed 33 1/3 series, a celebrated collection in which each volume explores a single, iconic album. 7:30pm ET | Beginning Middle End — Fragments from a Sonic Novel
Award-winning Mexican writer Valeria Luiselli and sound designer Charles de Montebello present Luiselli’s new novel Beginning Middle End as a sonic experience. Together, they recorded underwater sounds, winds, volcanic eruptions, rainstorms, church bells, fish markets, and other sounds across Sicily and the Aeolian Islands. These sounds serve to accompany and thread through the narrative like a chorus made not from human voices, but from the elements. The goal is simple: for reader-listeners to fully immerse themselves and feel anchored in time and space through sound.
Please note that tickets do not include books; we encourage you to order in advance online or purchase copies at the event.
