This reading and Q&A will feature Lauren McGovern, a creative nonfiction writer based in the Adirondacks. As a freelance writer for years, she crafted personal essays, reviews, educational articles, and profiles for regional magazines and newspapers while working as a school counselor and parenting. When her younger son died by suicide in 2018, she discovered the power of creative nonfiction and visual storytelling to grieve and grow with that loss. Her work has been featured in Midstory Magazine, What’s Your Grief, The Brooklyn Review, Oh Reader, Gordon Square Review, MUTHA Magazine, The Razor, and elsewhere.
