We welcome local author David Sherrin to read from his new book Big Bad Wolf’s Yom Kippur. The picture book, most appropriate for ages 4-8, will follow our favorite antagonist on a journey where he meets familiar fairy tale characters and learns that it is even possible for a Big Bad Wolf to become good. Check out early reviews of this book: “A solemn holiday is given an appealing, entertaining treatment well suited to young kids.”

After the reading, David will take questions in a lively Q&A about being a writer, about the holidays, and about his interest in fables like the ones woven into this book.

This event is suitable for families with children of all ages. The book will be available for purchase onsite directly from the author, who’ll be happy to sign it. A maximum of 70 tickets will be available. Tickets are free but donations are welcome (either at the checkout screen or in person at the event). This event will take place in person only at HVWC, which is located at the historic former station house of the Philipse Manor RR station in Sleepy Hollow, NY. There is ample parking on weekends.

DAVID SHERRIN is a social studies teacher at Scarsdale High School, the creator of the podcast “Conversations in World History,” and the author of three books on education and two upcoming picture books. He was a NYC Master Teacher, the winner of the 2014 Robert H. Jackson National Award for Teaching Justice, and has recently been nominated for the 2023-24 National History Teacher of the Year award. He loves to think, talk, and write about history and to eat pretzels.
