This event will celebrate the inauguration of the newly formed Women's Spirituality Studies Press and the launch of the Press's first publication "The Goddess of Burning Hair," an anthology of poems by Mary Mackey to, about, and in the voices of various goddesses who speak for the Earth. Written from 1972 to 2025, the poems in Mackey's collection include those in the voices of European goddesses like Aphrodite; Afro-Brazilian goddesses like Iemanja and Yansan; and goddesses Mackey has invented like The Goddess of Burning Hair, who warns that the trees of the Amazon rainforest (which are metaphorically the "hair" of the Earth) are presently burning in a great, unprecedented conflagrations. WSSP will also discuss several of its forthcoming publications which bring together transformative scholarship, practitioner wisdom, and visionary voices in Women’s Spirituality Studies.
