Long before the first Europeans set foot on Turtle Island, Indigenous people shared and recorded their stories and histories. Despite all efforts to silence them or relegate their stories to the past, Native communities continue this tradition.
Join us as we celebrate Indigenous literature this summer with a panel featuring historian Linford D. Fisher, author of Stealing America: The Hidden Story of Indigenous Slavery in U.S. History; novelist Eliana Ramage (Cherokee), author of To the Moon and Back; and writer Greg Sarris (Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria), author of The Last Human Bear. Scholar Joseph M. Pierce (Cherokee), author of Speculative Relations: Indigenous Worlding and Repair, will moderate the conversation.
The writers will consider Native literature from cultural, anthropological, and fictional perspectives, and examine Indigenous narratives across time. A book signing will follow the event.
