The first two writing workshops with Miguel Rivera were so successful we would like to offer another set poetry writing workshops to broaden our audience and to deepen the experience of those who attended the first two workshops. Through writing exercises, dialogue, and reading poems by other poets the participants will learn how to express their experiences (spiritual, emotional, and physical) through poetry. Using metaphors, dreams, and the language of spoken and written poetry, the participants will create a relationship to their world around them. The first workshop will introduce the tools and writing exercises of this unique approach, and the second workshop will implement what they have learned in concrete form: Their poems written and spoken within community. Each workshop will be three hours. Led by Miguel Rivera. Attending both workshops is recommended. We are grateful for the support of Poets & Writers.
Find details about every creative writing competition—including poetry contests, short story competitions, essay contests, awards for novels, grants for translators, and more—that we’ve published in the Grants & Awards section of Poets & Writers Magazine during the past year. We carefully review the practices and policies of each contest before including it in the Writing Contests database, the most trusted resource for legitimate writing contests available anywhere.
