The Bay Area Book Festival’s Family Day returns Saturday, May 31, 2025, offering an unforgettable experience for families of all ages! With over 90 youth and YA authors, the event will feature beloved children’s authors, panels, discussions, and fun interactive activities—all completely free at the Berkeley Public Library Central branch. From lively story times to thought-provoking panels, Family Day unites authors, artists, and community members to ignite creativity and inspire learning with a full slate of programs covering timely topics like teen mental health, graphic novels, body autonomy, romance, and personal growth.
The Bay Area Book Festival is excited to partner with the Oakland-based Social Justice Children’s Book Fair to curate Family Day programming. For eight years, SJCBF has brought together independent children’s book creators, publishers, and advocates to uplift underrepresented voices and support a movement that champions social justice-centered stories for young readers.
