Anthony Grooms will be inducted into the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame on August 2, 2025 at 1 PM at the Athens-Clarke County Public Library (2025 Baxter St, Athens, GA 30606). All are welcomed.

The program, When Fiction Remembers, will feature a conversation on fiction, history, and the art of storytelling with Grooms and filmmaker Jesse Freeman. 

Anthony Grooms is Professor Emeritus of Creative Writing at Kennesaw State University and a recipient of the GWA Lifetime Achievement Award. He is the author of Bombingham, The Vain Conversation, and the story collection Trouble No More, works that have been widely adopted in college classrooms across the country.

Grooms writes across genres—from historical to speculative fiction—but is best known for his powerful explorations of the American Civil Rights Movement. His work has been recognized with honors from the Hurston-Wright Foundation, the Lillian Smith Book Awards, and the Black Caucus of the American Library Association.
