The Book Stall (811 Elm Street in Winnetka) welcomes longtime New Trier educator and poet John S. O’Connor on Tuesday, November 19th at 6:30 PM. He will be reading from and signing copies of his new collection of haiku, Natural Consequences. John will be joined by some of his students, who will also read from their work.
More About the Author: Prize-winning writer John S. O’Connor currently teaches at New Trier High School, a public school outside of Chicago. He also taught at Penn State and Northwestern. He holds degrees from The University of Chicago as well as a PhD in English from University of Illinois Chicago. O’Connor’s has written two books on the teaching of writing, Wordplaygrounds and This Time It’s Personal; a chapbook of poems called Rooting; and the forthcoming full-length collection, Streets and San.
He has been writing haiku for the past 25 years or so. Individual haiku have won awards and appeared in the Red Moon Anthology several times. O’Connor has written two previous collections of haiku, both with Deep North Press: Room Full of Chairs and Things Being What They Are.
