Poet and Bronx County Historical Society fellow David Mills and Westchester County Poet Laureate Phylisha Villanueva help Art in the Basin celebrate its eighth birthday.
David Mills holds an MFA from Warren Wilson College and an MA from New York University as well as a BA (cum laude) from Yale University. He's published four poetry collections: Boneyarn, The Sudden Country, The Dream Detective, and After Mistic.
Phylisha Villanueva, a Belizean-American, writes about identity, colorism, inherited trauma, resilience, women’s empowerment, Black culture, and mysticism. She co-founded the Yonkers Writing Group and serves as a board advisor and chairperson for the Blue Door Art Center membership committee in Yonkers. Villanueva is author of the book Pretty Girl Special (2019).
