“Ah, Sookie, Sookie Now! - A Multimedia Presentation in Poetry Prose & Self-Praise in Celebration of Nikki Giovanni’s Iconic Poem “Ego Tripping” Presented by Some of Today’s Finest Artists of Color.  Threaded through the series and found in each one of the programs, is a remembrance, a tribute, an acknowledgement, and celebration of the poem “Ego Tripping,” a poem written by the iconic and legendary poet Ms. Nikki Giovanni.  The final program of the series, “Ah, Sookie, Sookie Now! is a multimedia “Sookie-a-thon,” presented in poetry, prose, and self-praise, in honor of the poem’s 55th Birthday – the poem was written in 1968.  “Ah, Sookie, Sookie, Now!”  is a Cultural Call for All, to step out and beyond societal boundaries and outer imposed limitations.  The program is an artistic collaborative Self -Shout, a Blessed Bragging, a Creative Conversation, through poetry, prose, theater, dance movement and song testifying to the glories of the church song’s well-known refrain, “This Little Light of Mine, I’m Going to Let it Shine.”   In the last lines of the poem “Ego Tripping,” Nikki Giovanni writes,I am so perfect so divine so ethereal so surreal I cannot be comprehended except by my permission I mean . . . I . . . can fly like a bird in the sky . .  .”  May we all find the courage to take wing and soar through the boundless, endless, and infinite sky of Inner-Flight.
