“Looking for fiction so informed that it reads like nonfiction, nonfiction so enthralling and far-reaching that it feels like a novel.
For narrative nonfiction: looking for biography, super specific cultural histories or micro histories, science, reportage, big ideas books, underrepresented stories of all stripes, and smart culture writing with a sense of play.
I’m not looking for memoir (I would consider ‘memoir plus’ or a hybrid part memoir, part history of science, say—that includes a personal narrative as part of a larger story and wouldn’t be shelved in the memoir section).
For fiction: looking for imaginative, fresh, voice-driven stories that ignite cultural conversation, including but not limited to the strange and speculative, folklore and myth.”
