The Donald Everett Axinn Fellowship is a part-time (20 hours per week) position, designed to last for 12 months, terminating at the beginning of the following academic year. The fellow works primarily as part of Poem-a-Day’s digital production team. This position also contributes to other editorial projects and partners with the rest of the Academy’s content team. The fellow will attend weekly content team meetings and any others as required.
Responsibilities:
- Typesetting and coding poems featured in the Poem-a-Day series as well as poems that are contributed to the archive by contemporary poets or as part of other editorial projects
- Typesetting and coding poems for curatorial projects worked on in collaboration with the editorial team
- Building first drafts and collating supporting materials for each daily Poem-a-Day email
- Selecting related poems for each Poem-a-Day installment
- Data entry and customer relationship management (CRM) maintenance on the Poem-a-Day newsletter list
- Voting on selections for the monthly enjambments series
- Researching, writing, and updating biographies of both classic and contemporary poets on Poets.org
- Helping to select poems for the Re:Prints series in the biannual members’ magazine American Poets
- Tracking forthcoming poetry collections in a shared spreadsheet
Compensation: $20/hr, 20 hours per week.
Location: The office is located in New York City, and the Academy operates on a hybrid schedule—three days in the office and two days remote.
